Highways and Bridges

2001 Preparation of reports and oral evidence on the design, construction, maintenance and partial failure of a pedestrian suspension bridge, leading to personal injuries and replacement of the superstructure.

1998-2000 Preparation of a series of reports on the design, construction, structural investigations, load testing and repairs required to a group of 12 defective concrete bridges in Greece.

1995 Preparation of a present condition report and presentation of oral evidence at a Court hearing to resolve a dispute over the suitability of a private roadway to carry heavy delivery vehicles.

1994 Preparation of reports and presentation of oral evidence at a Public Inquiry into an application to increase toll charges and provide funding of remedial repairs for a 200-year old, 9 span masonry viaduct at Eynsham, near Oxford. The evidence included a detailed analysis of previous traffic flows, the effects of road salts on the rate of deterioration of the masonry and a comprehensive assessment of the project costs for repairs over a 10-year period.

1975-79 Analysis of traffic data and preparation of reports on suitability of road junction design and appraisal of traffic flow capacities at three Planning Appeals for C.W.S. Superstores at Peterborough, Birmingham and Barnsley.

2006 Preparation of report on Planning Supervisor performance prior to sudden collapse of Victorian building during refurbishment works and presentation of oral evidence in court, London.

2005 Preparation of report on Health & Safety aspects of working procedures to a personal accident on a fragile roof and evidence up to settlement in Court, London.

2004 Preparation of report on structural aspects and working procedures leading up to the uncontrolled collapse of a fire damaged masonry structure, Kent.

2003 Preparation of report on the uncontrolled collapse of a steel framed building during demolition.

2003 Preparation of reports on the structural damage to pretensioned concrete bridge beams during widening of an existing motorway bridge.

2000 Preparation of report on cost estimates, profit margins and normal procedures for the dismantling of large steelwork sections and removal of concrete foundations from two re-developed factory sites.

2000 Preparation of report on demolition Method Statement, Health and Safety Plan, Risk Assessment and correspondence leading up to the unintentional collapse of a Cinema Building.

1999 Preparation of a structural assessment and health & safety appraisal relating to the causes of the sudden collapse of a prefabricated school building during dismantling activities and the personal injuries sustained by a demolition worker.
